The potential for virtual museums to support heritage practitioners in the promotion and preservation of heritage is growing. New technologies and technological advance bring the possibilities of VR/AR and the opportunity of engagement being enriched and personalised with large language models.

For these opportunities to be realised it is important to develop virtual museum eco system, which provides infrastructure, tools and good practice for the creation of exhibits which enhance museum experience, extend curation beyond the walls of the museum and support access in the home.

Yet aa virtual museum needs to connect with community and through community address sustainable development and threats. In this paper we argue the importance of Cultural Landscapes, as a way of bringing together heritage that is about  space and place. This enables us to overcome the seperation imposed by classification and therbye draw the connections that can keep heirtage relevant to the future.
